Laravel 10 Ajax File Upload with Progress Bar Example

It provides a visual representation of the file upload progress, allowing users to track the progress and estimate the remaining time.

Step 1: Install Laravel

composer create-project laravel/laravel example-app

Step 2: Create Routes

routes/web.php

<?php

use Illuminate\Support\Facades\Route;

use App\Http\Controllers\FileController;

/*
|--------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Web Routes
|--------------------------------------------------------------------------
|
| Here is where you can register web routes for your application. These
| routes are loaded by the RouteServiceProvider within a group which
| contains the "web" middleware group. Now create something great!
|
*/

Route::controller(FileController::class)->group(function(){
    Route::get('file-upload', 'index');
    Route::post('file-upload', 'store')->name('file.upload');
});

Step 3: Create FileController

app/Http/Controllers/FileController.php

<?php

namespace App\Http\Controllers;
use Illuminate\Http\Request;
use Illuminate\View\View;
use Illuminate\Http\JsonResponse;

class FileController extends Controller
{
    /**
     * Show the application dashboard.
     *
     * @return \Illuminate\Http\Response
     */
    public function index(): View
    {
        return view('fileUpload');
    }

    /**
     * Show the application dashboard.
     *
     * @return \Illuminate\Http\Response
     */
    public function store(Request $request): JsonResponse
    {
        $request->validate([
            'file' => 'required',
        ]);

        $fileName = time().'.'.request()->file->getClientOriginalExtension();

        request()->file->move(public_path('files'), $fileName);

        return response()->json(['success'=>'You have successfully upload file.']);
    }
}

Step 4: Create Blade File

resources/views/fileUpload.blade.php

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="{{ str_replace('_', '-', app()->getLocale()) }}">
<head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">

<body>
    <div class="container mt-5" style="max-width: 900px">
